In this project TACT provides essential and lifesaving Health and Nutrition services for women and children in need affected by the emergency in Afghanistan through eight Health and Nutrition Mobile Teams (MHNTs) in hard-to-reach and underserved locations of eight districts in Nuristan province. Each MHNT consists of one Medical Doctor, Nurse, Nutrition Counselor, Psycho-social Counselor, Vaccinator, Midwife, and Food Distributor. The MHNTs work on a daily basis to provide screening, OPD treatment, and referral services for malnourished children under 5 (SAM and MAM), and undernourished pregnant and lactating women (MAM). Provision of deworming, vitamin A supplementation, immunization, Primary Health Care OPD services, IYCF, Health Education, ANC and PNC services, and Psycho-social services are some of the other main activities within this project.
